As is true with all topical treatments, proper use and distribution can heavily influence your results. ScarMD Glide Massaging Scar Treatment is no different. Sure, you have all the tools you need to transform the look and feel of your skin, but let’s make sure we’re using these tools correctly. Since silicone scar gels are generally safe when applied to an already healed wound, proper usage is more about achieving your desired results rather than avoiding side effects.
What comes with ScarMD Glide Massaging Scar Treatment?
You’re well on your way to reducing scar visibility in the comfort of your own home. Here’s what you’ll see when you open the packaging.
ScarMD® Glide - Massaging Scar Treatment
Dual Action - Massage and Silicone Treatment
Now, let’s talk about proper application
ScarMD® Glide Massaging Scar Treatment uses an innovative 3-ball massaging applicator for dual action effectiveness in treating your scar. Let’s walk through the steps so you get the most out of your treatment.
- Apply a thin layer of ScarMD to the affected area. This will dry almost instantly, and we can move on to the next crucial step.
- Massage the affected area with the Massage and Silicone treatment.
- Massaging stimulates blood flow, bringing nutrients to assist in the healing process.
- Massaging is thought to work by mechanically re-distributing the fibrotic tissue
- Massaging once per day with ScarMD Glide results in significantly less scar tissue.
It is a good idea to spend a few minutes massaging our product onto your skin, assuming this doesn’t cause too much pain. Evidence suggests that massaging helps break down scar tissue and helps improve the appearance of your scar. Using both circular motions as well as up, down, and sideways motions is recommended. A good rule of thumb is to spend 3-5 minutes doing this with each application. This is the best practice if time permits. While not necessarily required with every application, massaging the affected area regularly has shown to improve the scar resolution process.
Repeat the process as necessary
Maintaining a routine will dictate what kind of results you have. However, everybody’s skin is different, so when in doubt, contact your physician or dermatologist with any questions. As a general rule of thumb, it’s best to apply ScarMD twice a day, for up to three months to get desired results. With the added 3-ball massaging applicator added to the routine, you will be both surprised and amazed with the results of your therapy. When using the massage applicator, remember that moderation may be necessary. If the friction from the actual massaging is causing discomfort or redness, you may want to utilize the feature with every other application, shorten how long you’re using it for each application, or a combination of both. Don’t be afraid to give yourself a couple weeks to lock down the routine that works right for you!
